About The P.E.A.C.E Team
Mission Statement
The mission of P.E.A.C.E is to liberate Baltimore City residents from poverty, crime, and violence through education, mediation, and community organizing.
Program Description
The PEACE Team (501c3) is a community violence intervention using credible messengers to resolve conflicts, intervene before violence occurs and connects people to needed resources. The model includes three primary components: Communicating directly with leaders coordinating criminal activities in identified communities; daily messaging to young people at risk of involvement with violence; and implementation of community building events. The first phase of the strategy is to identify the groups who are responsible for most violence in the identified footprint. The PEACE Team contacts the heads of the groups and discusses positive messaging related to violence prevention. The second phase of the PEACE plan to have daily interactions with the young people at highest risk of being involved in violence and encourage peace treaties between rival groups. The third phase of the PEACE plan is community building. Six times per year, the PEACE Team organizes and implements community events and helps competing groups involved in criminal activity to have peaceful interactions.
Goals and Objectives
